Garden Souls Arrives at Nuntius Games and Gets a Page on Steam

Following the success of Pocket Bravery and the recent launch of Arashi Gaiden for consoles, Statera Studio officially unveils Garden Souls, its newest project in partnership with Nuntius Games.

Blending fast-paced combat, stylish combos, deep build customization and an original pixel art universe, Garden Souls is an action roguelite designed to give players complete freedom in every run.

Check out the reveal trailer below.

Deep combat, endless build possibilities and complete player freedom

In Garden Souls, players choose one of four Garden Princesses and battle through procedurally generated stages while unlocking new abilities, combining elemental powers and creating a completely different build every run.

Combat goes beyond weapons and magic. Players can recruit Bombogs, small plant companions that fight automatically, and summon powerful Strikers during battle to extend combos, deal massive damage and create unique combat strategies.

According to Jonathan Silva, Game Director at Statera Studio:

“Our goal has always been to create a game where players feel incredibly powerful. We want every run to inspire players to experiment with new builds and discover just how far they can push their combos.”

Built by developers who love fighting games

Although Garden Souls is now an action roguelite, the project originally began as a metroidvania.

As development progressed, the team realized the game’s greatest strength was its combat. They decided to redesign the project around fast-paced battles, replayability and build variety, allowing every mechanic to reinforce the action.

Statera’s extensive experience developing fighting games directly influenced the combat system, resulting in an attack cancel mechanic that allows skilled players to chain together long, stylish combo sequences.

A brand-new universe designed to grow

Garden Souls was born from the idea of creating a universe different from what is typically seen in games. It was initially inspired in a fairly loose way by the song “The Carnation and the Rose.”

As the project evolved, it took on a world of its own, inhabited by warrior flowers, humanoid plants, and a mythology based on the relationship between the Sun and the Moon.

According to “Edjunior”, developer of the game

“As new characters and regions were created, the team realized there were far more stories to tell than could be contained in a single game. The intention is to continue expanding this universe in the future through new projects.”

The protagonist has been hiding in plain sight

Long before Garden Souls was officially announced, its main character, Rose, had already appeared in previous Statera Studio games.

Players can spot her in Miura’s stage in Pocket Bravery, as well as in a hidden portrait inside one of Arashi Gaiden’s levels.

According to the developers, these cameos were small hints of a universe that had been quietly taking shape years before its official reveal.

Inspirations behind Garden Souls

Garden Souls draws inspiration from acclaimed titles such as Absolum, Spiritfall, Hollow Knight, BlazBlue Entropy Effect and Jump Ultimate Stars.

Players who enjoy games like Spiritfall, Hollow Knight, Skul: The Hero Slayer, Astral Ascent, or BlazBlue Entropy Effect will likely find familiar ideas here, while still discovering a game with its own distinct identity.

By combining fast-paced combat, expressive pixel art and deep build customization, Garden Souls aims to deliver an experience that’s approachable for newcomers while offering plenty of depth for players who enjoy mastering complex systems.

Garden Souls is now officially available to wishlist on Steam.
