Doctor Viscera Expands the Horror with the Definitive Edition

Doctor Viscera: Definitive Edition will launch on June 23rd, 2026, exclusively on Steam. News regarding console releases will be shared soon.
Developed by the Brazilian studio Liminal Road, Doctor Viscera is a survival horror experience inspired by modern genre classics, where players must escape the horrors of the abandoned GrimmHaus Asylum while being relentlessly hunted by a terrifying creature.
On June 23rd, the game will receive its Definitive Edition, introducing a variety of improvements, adjustments, and new content designed to make the experience even more intense.
All of this content will be available free of charge to players who already own Doctor Viscera on Steam, with no additional cost.

Nurse: A New Pursuer Arrives at GrimmHaus Asylum
The biggest addition in the Definitive Edition is Nurse, a brand-new enemy who will actively pursue players throughout the campaign.
Although slower than Doctor Viscera, she introduces a completely different gameplay dynamic by using ranged attacks with a firearm, forcing players to rethink their routes, strategies, and survival tactics.
According to the developers, under certain circumstances players may even be able to disarm Nurse and use her weapon, creating entirely new situations and possibilities within the game.

New Explorable Area and Gameplay Improvements
The Definitive Edition also introduces a new area to the map, featuring a tram system. In addition to serving as a new exploration route, it can also be used to quickly escape pursuers and travel between different sections of the asylum.
The update also brings improvements across multiple aspects of the experience, including:
- Level design changes
- Puzzle redesigns
- Performance optimizations
- New immersive audio system
- Controller support
- New menu interfaces
Altogether, the Definitive Edition adds new content and refinements that make exploring GrimmHaus even more unpredictable and terrifying.

Retro Horror Inspired by Modern Classics
Doctor Viscera embraces an aesthetic inspired by the PlayStation 1 era, combining retro visuals with a dense and unsettling atmosphere.
According to the Liminal Road team, the decision to adopt a PSX-inspired visual style came both from the studio’s passion for the aesthetic and from its ability to create strange and unsettling environments without relying on extreme realism.
Among the main inspirations cited by the developers are titles such as Granny, Evil Nun, Stay Out of the House, Ice Scream, and Jeff The Killer: Horror Game.
